the Steinbeck house Mission:
The Steinbeck House, Inc. is dedicated to preserving and promoting the literary legacy of John Steinbeck by safeguarding his home in Sag Harbor. Our goal is to provide a safe, well-maintained environment that honors the place where he received his Nobel Prize. We strive to balance public access with respect for the private nature of the community in which Elaine and John Steinbeck lived.
Steinbeck House will serve as a writer's retreat for much of the year, inspiring authors to hone their craft at this historic home. We are committed to giving back to the Sag Harbor community while carrying forward the literary culture of Long Island’s East End. Through our efforts, we aim to ensure that the spirit of Steinbeck lives on in a way that would make John and Elaine proud.
